What challenge, problem or motivation inspired you to make one small change?

I felt the quizzes in my class were not encouraging the students to review their notes as they were designed to. Rather, students would often struggle on quizzes and concepts were not being reinforced, so I decided a new approach was necessary.

Tell us about your one small change:

I adopted Nearpod as a presentation tool, but more importantly, as a quizzing tool as well. Previous to Nearpod, students were being quizzed through the use of Socrative the following class AFTER finishing a chapter. Now with Nearpod, students are quizzed on content that was presented a few slides earlier.

What was the result of your one small change?

Students provided positive feedback, scores were higher, and the approach was more forgiving for absent students as well. Before, if you missed the quiz day, you received 0 for that assignment. Now however, if you miss a class, that chapter may span 2-3 classes, so you can still salvage some quiz question marks for the other days you attend.
