We all want our students to be successful and receive the best possible education. We want them to be able to apply the skills and knowledge learned in our classrooms and online courses, to their future careers.
At Cambrian College, like most colleges around the world, we have students who join us from international locations. These students travel a great distance to be here and study with us in Canada. They leave the familiarity of their families, homes and communities to venture to a new country, a new city and a new school.
These students are often developing their proficiency in English, acquiring a taste for new foods, building new friendships and relationships, and living in a new culture; all of which takes time and effort. While considering all of these new experiences, they are also engaged in their programs of study, which requires additional investment of time, focus, patience, and perseverance.
Many of these students are still young adults, and in the process of discovering who they are and what they want to do with their lives and careers. Students who travel here with their families also have the added pressures of finding jobs, childcare, schooling, healthcare and much more.
Cultural Diversity Module
Our Cultural Diversity Module has been developed by Cambrian College’s Human Resources Department and Equity Office, in partnership with Cambrian International.
The purpose of this module is to help reflect on perspectives and ideologies around cultural diversity. You will participate in a series of questions and answers but note that your responses are for self-reflection only. We want you to take this time to think about your own beliefs, values, experiences and customs.
