GenAI, short for Generative AI, is a branch of artificial intelligence that focuses on creating new content—such as text, images, music, or even code—by learning patterns from existing data. Unlike traditional AI, Generative AI can produce original outputs that mimic human creativity and is revolutionizing fields like education, content creation, and research.
Cambrian College and GenAI
Cambrian College is committed to understanding how Generative AI can be effectively integrated into post-secondary education while promoting ethical and responsible use. Below, you’ll find resources like guidance for drafting syllabus statements on GenAI use in your class, our AI Community of Practice, and recommendations on AI and academic integrity.
Sample GenAI Syllabus Statements
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into education, it’s important for faculty to clearly communicate expectations regarding its use in the classroom. An AI statement in your syllabus can help set guidelines for how AI tools should be utilized in your course, ensuring that students understand which uses of GenAI tools are appropriate.
