Updated Interface Design
Moodle 4.5 introduces a refreshed layout to help reduce clutter and make it easier for instructors and students to navigate course content.
- Smaller activity icons: A more compact, modern look makes course pages feel less crowded.
- Central content creation button: The “Add an activity or resource” button is now front and center for faster course building. Can be added between activities.
- Add activities between items: You can now insert new activities anywhere within a section — not just at the bottom — making it easier to organize content exactly where you want it.
Text Editor Enhancements
The TinyMCE editor in Moodle 4.5 brings powerful tools to make building course content easier and more accessible.
-
- Cleaned-up toolbar: A simplified layout helps you find formatting tools more quickly.
- Better table editing tools: Improved controls make it easier to add and format tables.
- Find and Replace: Quickly make changes across your content, ideal for updating terminology, formatting, or repeated elements.
- Fullscreen mode: Expand the text editor to full screen for distraction-free content creation — especially helpful for writing longer instructions or announcements.
Streamlined Activity Management
These time-saving tools make it easier to manage and structure your course efficiently.
Bulk activity editing:
-
- Apply visibility or availability changes to multiple activities in one go — perfect for preparing or wrapping up a module
- Make available but don’t show on course page: Hide an activity from the course page but still allow students to access it directly via a link — useful for conditional content or personalized resources.
