Cancelled – Students are Not the Enemy
February 28, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
This session has been cancelled until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Have you ever felt that your classroom is becoming a competitive arena? With an adversarial “us vs. them” mindset, we often forbid students from using certain tools and resources, spend countless hours designing and redesigning assignments just to foil “all those cheaters”, and often hold them to standards we don’t always meet ourselves.
Join Aaron Langille, Professor in the School of Creative Industries and Coordinator of Game Design, in this session to discuss the root of some of these common classroom concerns, as well as strategies to help foster a more cooperative teaching and learning environment.
Learning Outcomes
- Consider the ways that systemic, external, and personal factors affect instructor and learner anxieties
- Reflect on the importance of balancing academic expectations with instructor and learner well-being
- Engage with peers about pedagogical strategies that foster a cooperative teaching and learning environment
