Reducing Implicit Biases in the Classroom

February 28, 2024 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Join Kristeen McKee (Professor, School of Business) and Christopher Schubert (Senior Educational Technology Specialist/PT Professor) for an interactive workshop about understanding, recognizing, and refuting implicit biases in the classroom.

Together we will discuss the significance of understanding implicit biases and identify the research-backed strategies demonstrated to prevent them. Throughout the workshop, we will provide practical learning activities, case studies, and other resources that you can use with your students to combat and challenge bias.

Our goal is to equip you with the tools and knowledge to create inclusive classrooms and foster open discussions about bias inside, and out of, the classroom.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will learn to:

  • Increase awareness and understanding of implicit biases.
  • Design inclusive learning environments to engage students in discussions on implicit bias.
  • Apply strategies to help faculty and students acknowledge and refute biases.
