[External] International Day of Persons with Disabilities Events

December 3, 2024 @ 11:30 am - 5:00 pm

Tuesday, December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year’s theme is “amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future”.  We would like to invite your staff, faculty and students at Cambrian College to join us for a day of events organized by George Brown College and Toronto Metropolitan University.

Hybrid events on December 3rd are at George Brown College’s Waterfront campus first floor atrium (51 Dockside Dr., Toronto), and online via Zoom. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and ASL interpretation and captioning are provided for all the events.

At 11:30AM-1PM: service fair with George Brown College and community service providers for people with disabilities.

At 1-3PM: keynote address by Dr. Jay Dolmage, author of Academic Ableism, followed by a panel of community members sharing experiences of staff and students with disabilities having agency in post-secondary education institutions. Register on Eventbrite.

At 3- 4 PM: Student Panel Be Seen, Heard, and Valued, sharing their college life journeys, challenges, and successes. Please promote to your students! Register on Eventbrite.

At 4-5 PM: Therapeutic Dance, led by GBC student Ishaa Chopra, author of Finding Order in Disorder: A Bipolar Memoir. Everyone is welcome to engage in whatever ways work best for you! Register on Eventbrite.

Please register and share widely with your communities!
