Session Formats

There are many ways to participate in the showcase, including:

  • Showcase Booth (1.5 hours) – Set up your own space and highlight or demonstrate your innovative approach to teaching, answering questions and offering advice to Showcase attendees. This traditional “tradeshow” format is a great way to network, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration from our peers. The Showcase Booth provides a platform for you to engage directly with attendees, whether it’s showcasing cutting-edge technology, innovative teaching methods, or successful classroom strategies, this open format encourages interactive discussions and the exploration of new ideas.
  • Lightning Talk (10 minutes) – Take centre stage and deliver a 5–7-minute talk (followed by Q&A) on a success you’ve experienced in the classroom. Presenters are encouraged to discuss their innovative classroom strategies, sharing insights, successes, methodologies, and/or research findings that have positively impacted the learning experience for their students. It’s your chance to inspire and ignite a passion for transformative education within our college community.
  • Micro-workshop (30 minutes) – Is your topic best served with a side of interactivity? The micro-workshop might be the ideal format! Presenters have the opportunity to share successful strategies while actively involving participants in practical exercises. Whether it’s a teaching technique, learning methodology, or innovative practice, guide your audience through an immersive experience designed to empower them with actionable insights. Spark creativity, foster collaboration, and leave a lasting impact on your attendees with this dynamic and participatory session.

Session Topics

We encourage presenters to think creatively and propose sessions that reflect successful practices, insightful research, and practical applications of teaching and learning at Cambrian. Below is a list of topic examples to inspire your proposals:

  • Innovative teaching – demonstrate new ways to engage students and enhance the learning experience.
  • Educational technologies – showcase the use of advanced tools, including GenAI, in creating interactive and engaging learning environments.
  • Authentic assessment strategies – share methods for assessing student learning that are relevant, real-world and/or creative.
  • Best practices across modalities – share insights on effective content delivery in classroom, Hyflex/hybrid, and online formats.
  • Educational research – share your latest research topic/findings and how they can be practically applied in teaching.
  • Partnerships and collaborative projects – highlight how collaborative efforts have enriched the educational experience.
