Sorry for the inconvenience!  \nFor many of us\, writing\, recording and editing video content for a Moodle page can be an awkward\, difficult\, and frustrating process.  (And if we have to update it on an annual or semi-annual basis\, too? Oh\, no …) But would you believe that one of the most popular and user-friendly apps out there – TikTok – can actually help you save time and energy? \nJoin Neil Shyminsky\, Professor in the School of General Studies and Academic Upgrading for this in-person session where he will share examples of how he has used TikTok to create focused\, mini-lectures in two of his virtual courses – and\, in one\, also hosted the videos on TikTok itself.  (Though TikTok\, like any video production platform\, comes with advantages AND drawbacks\, which we’ll also discuss.) \nFor those who are interested in trying it themselves\, he will also walk you through the remarkably quick and easy process of recording\, editing\, and posting a video. \nLearning Outcomes \nParticipants will: \n\nlearn how to add TikTok to your repertoire of recording options\ncompare advantages of drawbacks of TikTok for mini-lectures in virtual courses.\n\nUse the button below to sign up for this workshop.

DESCRIPTION:Join Cynthia Booth and Christopher Schubert for an experiential workshop about creating safer spaces in our classrooms.  This 90-minute session is a completely hands-on workshop where we will explore through a learning circle what a brave space is\, how we create these spaces\, and engage in perspective-taking. All with the goal of finding creative ways to help our students feel brave. SUMMARY:Teaching and Learning with Compassion
DESCRIPTION:While classrooms are intended to be safe and healthy environments that foster learning\, the stress and politics embedded within them often create situations that can breed anxiety and even animosity – both for instructors and students.  \nIn this workshop\, participants will explore the role of kindness\, empathy\, and compassion in the classroom. Working closely with classroom scenarios\, we will address the various ways that compassion can be used to help facilitate teaching and learning. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever considered co-creating an assessment with your student’s to increase their investment and integrity in their own evaluation? \nJoin with Laura Killam\, Faculty in the School of Nursing as she unpacks and explores with us her practices in co-creation.  Co-Creation means shared decision-making. It involves interaction with the goal of empowering learners to have agency over components of curricula\, course content\, planning and/or assessment. Engage with Laura in a round table discussion to discuss the feasibility and appropriateness of co-creation in higher education.
