SUMMARY:Introduction Accessibility Foundations with POUR - Making Digital Content Inclusive
DESCRIPTION:This professional development session offers an introduction to digital accessibility using the P.O.U.R. framework from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Open to all staff and faculty\, the session explores how accessible design removes barriers and supports inclusive communication\, learning\, and digital environments. \nParticipants will engage with interactive activities and real-world examples to understand what it means for content to be: \n\nPerceivable → easy to see\, hear\, or interpret\nOperable → simple to navigate and interact with\nUnderstandable → clear\, structured\, and predictable\nRobust → compatible across devices and assistive technologies\n\n\nTakeaways\n\nRecognize common accessibility barriers in digital content\nLearn practical strategies (contrast\, captions\, alt text\, structured language\, intuitive navigation)\nExplore built-in accessibility checkers and helpful tools\n\nThis session supports the college’s commitment to inclusion by empowering participants to create digital content that works for everyone. \nCan’t attend in person? Attend virtually via Microsoft Teams. \n\n\nCan’t attend? A self-enrol Moodle version of this content is available — however\, we encourage in-person participation to benefit from live activities\, guided collaboration\, group discussion\, and hands-on practice. \n
