SUMMARY:GenAI - Ethical and Responsible Use
DESCRIPTION:GenAI – Ethical and Responsible Use \nDo you ever wonder how generative AI tools are developed or trained? Have you considered the hidden costs of asking AI to write a letter or create a funny image? What does AI do with the information we provide it? Can we use AI to create assessments but tell students not to use it in their responses? In this session  we’ll explore these and more topics relating to ethical and responsible use of generative AI tools. Everyone is welcome. \nThe session on May 29th will be held in-person in Room 1204.

SUMMARY:GenAI for Everyone
DESCRIPTION:GenAI For Everyone \nGenerative AI (GenAI) seems to be everywhere these days. We hear about it on the news\, on social media\, and in our workplace. But what is GenAI and what is all the fuss really about? In this information session – intended for AI-beginners – we’ll take a look at both the hype and the reality of these exciting and disruptive new tools and technologies. Everyone is welcome. \nThe session on May 27th will be held in-person in the Hub Classroom (Room 1271-B).

SUMMARY:Cancelled - Students are Not the Enemy
DESCRIPTION:This session has been cancelled until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience!  \nHave you ever felt that your classroom is becoming a competitive arena? With an adversarial “us vs. them” mindset\, we often forbid students from using certain tools and resources\, spend countless hours designing and redesigning assignments just to foil “all those cheaters”\, and often hold them to standards we don’t always meet ourselves. \nJoin Aaron Langille\, Professor in the School of Creative Industries and Coordinator of Game Design\,  in this session to discuss the root of some of these common classroom concerns\, as well as strategies to help foster a more cooperative teaching and learning environment. \nLearning Outcomes \n\nConsider the ways that systemic\, external\, and personal factors affect instructor and learner anxieties\nReflect on the importance of balancing  academic expectations with instructor and learner well-being\nEngage with peers about pedagogical strategies that foster a cooperative teaching and learning environment\n\nRegister by clicking on the link below.\n \n \nThis is session is part of the Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity workshop series that will be happening in 2023-24 and is part of our Next Level Badging.  Join in three of the five sessions and earn the AI + AI Badge.
