New to Teaching or New to Cambrian?
Welcome to Cambrian’s Teaching & Learning Innovation Hub website!
This is a great first place to begin part-time teaching with Cambrian College.
Part-time Faculty Orientation
When is Orientation?
We host part-time faculty orientation before the start of each semester in the fall, winter, and spring.
Where is Orientation?
Why Attend Orientation?
Part-time faculty orientation is designed to give new faculty the information and professional development they need to make a smooth transition to the College teaching environment. Additional professional development can be accessed throughout the academic year in The Hub.
Orientation will address the following topics:
- Who are our students?
- First class of the semester
- Classroom management
- Culturally-responsive, inclusive classrooms
- Course and lesson planning
- And so much more!
There will be multiple orientation sessions for part-time faculty orientation. You must register for each session individually on our calendar.
If you can’t make it to one of our upcoming in-person part-time orientation sessions in the Hub, you’re in luck!
The Hub offers online part-time orientation through Moodle. We understand that you have a busy schedule. This online orientation will introduce you to teaching at the college, as well as help you to become familiar with Moodle.
We strongly encourage you to complete both the online part-time faculty orientation and the online Moodle orientation so you can have a successful start to your teaching at the college.
Accessing Online Part-time Orientation
To access online part-time orientation, you will need to login to Moodle using your “A00…” number that was provided to you in your hire letter. The hire letter would have been sent to the email address you provided to Cambrian upon application to the college. If you haven’t yet received your hire letter please check your junk mail account. If you still haven’t located your hire letter, please contact your program or Dean.
Getting Started with the Faculty Handbook
If you haven’t yet attended orientation and want to get started on some helpful resources, check out the Cambrian College Faculty Handbook. This guide is meant to provide you with a starting point that will hopefully answer many of your questions about teaching at Cambrian. There’s even a handy checklist of items to do upon hire so you can feel good about getting your semester off to a great start!
