Where Does Open Fit? Examining Shifting Use and Behaviour Associated with Course Materials

February 11 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
This is an external webinar hosted by the Ontario Library Association (OLA). Please click this link to register.
In this webinar, we’ll examine the attitudes and assumptions that underpin faculty selection and use of course materials. Analyzing data we collected through a series of faculty interviews occurring from January-March 2019, we’ll discuss themes, challenges, opportunities, and areas for further exploration. Particular emphasis will be made on how open educational resources (OER) fit into this conversation, given their potential for improving pedagogy, learning, and accessibility in the classroom.

You will learn:

– The factors that influence decision-making around course material selection and use;
– How to understand and articulate the importance of alternative models for licensing and providing course content and why they are worth pursuing; and
– How to integrate OER into conversations around existing or future collections.
