Teaching International Students – Episode 3: Stereotypes and Generalizations

June 6, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Description:

Is it true that Indian students don’t have textbooks? That English is hardest for Chinese students? Or that Brazilians don’t have any concept of personal space? We hear a lot of truths, half-truths, and outright lies about how things work in other countries. In this session, we’ll review a bunch of useful (and some trivial) facts about the countries, cultures, and languages of our International Students.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to compare their beliefs and assumptions with those of their peers

Facilitator: Neil Shyminsky
