Teaching International Students – Episode 1: Faculty Expectations

May 23, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Description:

One of the most commonly recited comments about International Students is that “they knew what they signed up for”. But did they? In this session, we’ll examine some of the more prevalent assumptions that faculty hold about International Students – what they know, what they do, and how they’ve been prepared – and see how closely these match with reality.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to compare their expectations which those of their peers, recognize some hidden assumptions about the International Student experience, and consider how to integrate this new knowledge into their teaching practice.
