SUMMARY:[External] Teaching Post Secondary Writing in an AI Era: Strategies for Integrity and Human Skill Development
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nTeaching Post Secondary Writing in an AI Era: Strategies for Integrity and Human Skill Development with Dr. Olga Klymenko \nArtificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an integral component of post-secondary education\, reshaping approaches to teaching and learning. As students increasingly learn alongside intelligent machines\, educators must help them distinguish between legitimate support and inappropriate dependence to maintain academic integrity. This requires reaffirming independent learning as a defining human capacity. \nDrawing on a year of classroom experience\, this session explores practical approaches to teaching writing in an AI-enhanced environment\, examining instructional uses of generative AI\, their pedagogical impact\, and implications for academic integrity and student learning. Participants will engage with practical strategies for supporting human-centered writing in AI-rich classrooms. \nDr. Olga Klymenko is an instructor at Lethbridge Polytechnic with 30 years of experience as a language educator and researcher in Canada and internationally\, focusing on academic writing\, sociolinguistics\, and the role of artificial intelligence in post-secondary writing instruction.
