DESCRIPTION:Proposal Submissions\nWe now are accepting session proposals for Learning Journeys: A Teaching & Learning Showcase. Please submit session proposals using the Proposal Submission Form by May 3\, 2024. Confirmation of accepted proposal will be provided by May 8\, 2024. \n[su_button url=”https://forms.office.com/r/cGsS7V4EdC” target=”blank” style=”3d” size=”10″ radius=”round”]View the Proposal Submission Form[/su_button] \n\nSession Formats \nThere are many ways to participate in the showcase\, including: \n\nShowcase Booth (1.5 hours) – Set up your own space and highlight or demonstrate your innovative approach to teaching\, answering questions and offering advice to Showcase attendees. This traditional “tradeshow” format is a great way to network\, exchange ideas\, and gain inspiration from our peers. The Showcase Booth provides a platform for you to engage directly with attendees\, whether it’s showcasing cutting-edge technology\, innovative teaching methods\, or successful classroom strategies\, this open format encourages interactive discussions and the exploration of new ideas.\n\n\nLightning Talk (10 minutes) – Take centre stage and deliver a 5–7-minute talk (followed by Q&A) on a success you’ve experienced in the classroom. Presenters are encouraged to discuss their innovative classroom strategies\, sharing insights\, successes\, methodologies\, and/or research findings that have positively impacted the learning experience for their students. It’s your chance to inspire and ignite a passion for transformative education within our college community.\nMicro-workshop (30 minutes) – Is your topic best served with a side of interactivity? The micro-workshop might be the ideal format! Presenters have the opportunity to share successful strategies while actively involving participants in practical exercises. Whether it’s a teaching technique\, learning methodology\, or innovative practice\, guide your audience through an immersive experience designed to empower them with actionable insights. Spark creativity\, foster collaboration\, and leave a lasting impact on your attendees with this dynamic and participatory session.\n\n\nSession Topics \nWe encourage presenters to think creatively and propose sessions that reflect successful practices\, insightful research\, and practical applications of teaching and learning at Cambrian. DESCRIPTION:Join Cynthia Booth\, as she that delves into her learnings from her professional development leave on trauma informed approaches and their necessity in post secondary education\, especially if you are teaching trauma content to your students. In this interactive session\, she will introduce you to SAMHSA’s trauma-informed approach guiding you through the essential principles of trauma-informed care\, emphasizing sensitivity\, empathy\, and resilience. \nThis is not a workshop about teaching trauma content to your students.  This workshop is focused on the process that we as educators\, whether we teach trauma or not\, can use as part of our pedagogy of care to create structured yet empowering classrooms.  \nWorkshop Objectives \n\nTeaching Trauma: Explore the critical need to integrate trauma-informed practices into educational settings.\nBeing Trama-Centred:  Before discussing a framework\, we need to define its focus.\nSAMHSA’s Framework: Learn SAMHSA’s six principles of a trauma-informed approach and the easy with which they can help transform your classroom.\nPractical Strategies: Collaborate with colleagues to unearth strategies for creating safe\, supportive environments that promote healing and growth.\n\nRegistrations are now closed for this event.
